Kaya Fm was recently invited to experience the beautiful Kingdom of Swaziland, a magical experience that saw us witness first-hand breathtaking views and landscapes of the smallest country in the Southern hemisphere, well known for its wilderness reserves and festivals showcasing traditional Swazi culture with incredible attractions and activities.
Swaziland is one of the last surviving Monarchies in Africa, has a strong emphasis on culture, heritage, and an overwhelming friendliness of the people.
Upon our arrival, we took a drive to Malolotja Nature Reserve to experience the Canopy Tour. The zip line adventure has some of the most dramatic scenery with striking rock formations, towering cliff faces, and views across the lush forest canopy towards the Malolotja mountain peaks.
Swaziland is also home to the amazing Malandelas Lawn, the Eccentric Bush Fire Festival, House on Fire art studio, Gone Rural and All Out Africa. While at the Mantenga Cultural Village, a cultural sites that continues to preserve Swati culture, we watched traditional dances and learnt more about the distinctive Swazi way of life.
At the Hlane Royal National Park, Swaziland’ Largest Protected Area we came face to face with Four of the Big Five. The Lion, Elephant, White Rhino & the elusive Leopard. We also experienced Mkhaya Game Reserve, a definite must-see as the ultimate Sanctuary for Endangered Species.
he incredibly rich history at The National Museum has amazing archaeological and historical exhibits on the culture and history of Swaziland! On our last day, we ended up at Swazi Candles, one of Swaziland’s premier tourist attractions, and had a chance to partake in the creative experience of making the candles from scratch.
Swaziland is small, beautiful and very individual country, offering unique opportunities for the ultimate African adventure. Be on the look out for more exciting traveling adventures with Kaya FM.
