The festive season is just weeks away and you are wrapping up the year, and feeling the fatigue of yet another year gone too fast. It’s important to make the right choices this splurging season.
Here are a few thoughts to consider:
Let’s start with credit cards
The temptation to spend money that’s not yours that you’ll pay back with interest, for things you can do without gets real this time of the year. Don’t overspend, Look for a cheaper alternative to what you want and have a plan on what you will spend money on.
Watch your health.
Health is wealth, you may have all the money in the world but you won’t enjoy having it or spending it if you do n’t look after your health. Eat healthily, drink lots of water and exercise, it may sounds cliche, but it really works especially this time of the year.
Budget, Budget, Budget.
This doesn’t mean you have to make plans to splurge effectively, but it means you need to be smart. Be creative in how you stretch your rand. Invite people for a bring and braai, make your own cocktails, have movie nights where you make your own popcorn and snacks. Do things that are good to your bank balance.
Other ways to be money savvy this festive season:
Track every cent that you spend, have self-control
Plan ahead, the festive season is a short period that will pass. Don’t let it destabilise your financial goals.
Get your family to help you win.
