Threads introduces the first fashion hackathon in South Africa

FASHIONTECH™ AFRICA HACKATHON
FASHIONTech™ Hackathon for the programme and is a 24-hour long collaborative exercise where the Threads enterpreneurs team up with technology experts in the field of augmented reality, 3D, internet of things and virtual reality to solve a fashion problem.
There are three teams comprising of fashion designers, digital innovators – disruptors, developers and multimedia designers who work together to convert offline shoppers into active online shoppers. The entrepreneurs will present their solutions at the Fashion Tech Africa conference.
At Fashion Tech Africa, the teams will present their viable business. There is a panel jury comprising of investors and startup analysts, and the three teams will be presenting a live demo in front of this panel, similar to when Apple launches a new product – there will not only be the panel of jury but an audience strong of 150 of technology and fashion experts that will make up the guests of the FASHIONTech conference.
The teams will be required to live demonstrate the product, explain the business case with real financial numbers to back up their hypotheses and a marketing plan.
What is Threads?
Threads Stitched by Standard Bank, is a 12-week accelerator programme designed to develop fashion entrepreneurs around South Africa. The program promises to equip the “entrepreneurs” with skills to ensure that their businesses are successful and profitable. It is open to fashion entrepreneurs with an existing business operating in South Africa and focuses on the business operations of fashion enterprise.
