The internet lost its mind when, in his music video for “Save Your Tears,” The Weeknd revealed the latest development in his “makeover.” In August 2020 during the MTV Video Music Awards ceremony, the R&B artist showed signs of what was to come when he took to the stage with an apparently bloodied face.

In the pop video, the 30 year old Starboy hitmaker whose real name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, is unmasked to reveal a face altered by prosthetics that emulate major plastic surgery, super high cheekbones, lips pumped with fillers, as well as a sculpted nose.
Taking his artistry to another level
If you’re a major fan of The Weeknd and you’ve been watching his work in the “After Hours” period, the transition could make sense. Fans believe that it continues the story he’s been unravelling since he dropped the “Heartless” music video in November 2019. “Heartless” sees The Weeknd falling while partying in Vegas. Then, in the “Blinding Lights” video he gets hurt even more.
The “In Your Eyes” clip ends with the singer being decapitated, with his head attached to someone else’s body in the “Too Late” video. Now the bandages have come off to reveal his new look.
The Weeknd fans from Mzansi shared their reactions on Twitter to the R&B star’s “new face”.
