A proud moment happened yet again at this year’s Grammy Awards when one of South African’s most dynamic exports, The Soweto Gospel Choir took home a Grammy for “Best World Music Album” for their album, Freedom.

The group was formed in 2002 and over the years have toured around the world, performing for the likes of President Bill Clinton, Archbishop Desmond Tutu at his 75th Birthday Celebrations as well as Oprah Winfrey.

Their previous Grammy came from a song “Down To Earth” from the record-breaking Wall-E movie, where they collaborated with Peter Gabriel, to win a Grammy in the Best Movie Song category.

A recent highlight for many South Africans was when they performed with fellow Grammy Award winner Chance The Rapper at his 15,000 sell-out concert at the Dome which was a memorable soulful experience.
