Health officials in South Africa record a drop in new COVID-19 infections.
The health ministry recorded 792 new cases in the last 24-hour cycle, which is a drop from the 1 429 new cases recorded the previous day.
Health officials warn that the decline in infections should not be seen as a free pass for South Africans to be complacent.
According to the latest figures, the total number of cases since the start of the pandemic is now at 1 504 588 million.
In Gauteng, the number of active cases stands at over 4 000.
Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize has called on all citizens to adhere to health and safety protocols aimed at preventing the spread of the virus.
