Grahamstown is surrounded by beautiful private game reserves and South African Tourism treated us to a stay at the luxurious Pumba Private Game Reserve and Spa stay for two day. The lodge is located at the heart of Eastern Cape – Grahamstown.
Pumba Private Game Reserve and Spa is set in a private nature reserve with a river running through it and is surrounded by amazing greenery. After a cold night at the National Art Festival, we arrived at Pumba Private Game reserve, to a stunning, five-star service. We were welcomed with warm hand towels to clean and warm our hands, our rooms were warmed up and our beds were snugged with hot water bottles and wooden warm floors made up for the cold winds in Grahamstown.
The next morning we woke up to fresh air and a stunning view of greenery and hippos basking in the sun while giraffes drank water from the dam. After a nutritious and Instagram worthy breakfast with a stunning view of the dam we went off to a game drive and man oh man is South Africa a beautiful country! Game viewing was very good. The mission was to spot the Big five. We were told by our ranger that the white lion, elephant, rhino and buffalo are likely to be seen, while leopards are less common. For us this was compensated for by the opportunity to see white lions – what an amazing experience to watch white lions sleep and play after hunting.
Other wildlife in the game reserve includes giraffe, zebra, kudu, springbok and hartebeest. The indeginous vegetation and grenery is breathtaking and we felt like we were in another country.
A Sho’t Left to the Eastern Cape – Pumba Private Game Reserve and Spa is an absoutely must for some peace and to relax in a traquil environment.
