Last week, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi released the NHI Bill along with the Medical Schemes Amendment Bill. These announcements are the government’s first legislative steps to set up one health service for all South Africans.

Consumers who are with private medical schemes are, understandably, unhappy with the update. Some parties have also criticised this step by the government.
