Last week, our very own Mosibodi Whitehead, the Kaya FM Sport Editor, won big at the SAB Sport Media Awards.
The SAB Sport Awards are an institution that has been recognising people who report on South African sport. “For close to four decades, SAB has been committed to promoting and recognising excellence in the reporting of sport in South Africa,” says Robyn Chalmers, director communications: AB InBev Africa and SAB.
The awards honour sport reporters working across different disciplines namely written, digital, photography, video and audio. Mosibodi Whitehead, who’s passionate about local teams and development across sporting codes, scooped two awards in the audio media section.
Whitehead bagged both the sport producer and sport presenter of the year. Commenting on his awards, Whitehead called them a team effort. “It was a team effort because much of the audio I used in my presentation was gathered by the Kaya Sport team, while Busisiwe Mokwena and Edgar Mfaba helped me to put together the Bafana Bafana package that won the producer of the year award.” He said.
After the awards, Kaya FM Chief Content Officer, Niel Johnson, had the following to say about Mosibodi Whitehead’s big win: “Kaya FM has a small sport department that boxes way above their weight due to Mosi’s passion, direction, precision of priorities and execution on-air and online.”
Along with being the sport editor at Kaya FM, Mosibodi Whitehead is a producer and presenter. Alongside his Kaya FM Sport colleague, Sandile van Heerden, Whitehead has also started hosting the new sport, lifestyle and music show The Drive Thru, which is on Fridays 3 – 6 PM.Congratulations, Mosibodi!
