The nation mourns the passing of SAFTA Award winning actor Lindiwe Thembeka Ndlovu

Lindiwe Thembeka Ndlovu, a SAFTA Award-winning actor, has passed away. She died at her home on the morning of 11 January 2021, according to a statement released by Ndlovu’s family.
The family expressed deep sadness for her passing,
“It is with heavy hearts and unimaginable sadness that we bring you the news of Lindiwe Thembeka Ndlovu passing in her home this morning 11th January. Her bright, large burning light has gone out and we are devastated to bring you this sad news. To us Lindiwe was family but to many she was so much more.”
She is best known for her sitcom roles as Qondi in Mazinyo Dot Q and Buseje, the Malawian maid in Ses’Top La. Lindiwe is celebrated for her roles in Zabalaza and Lockdown, and also made appearances in various other TV shows including Egoli, Stokvel, Erfsondes, Soul City, Scandal, Isidingo and Home Affairs.

In the statement her family acknowledged her long and illustrious acting career.
“By far her greatest achievement was receiving her SAFTA Award, which was presented to her by the incredible American actor Samuel L Jackson, which she received for Best Actress in a Feature film. Lindiwe’s love for the stage is reflected in the many productions she gave her heart and soul to. A large number of them being performed at the Market Theatre, to which she had strong ties with her entire career, even spending her younger days completing two years of studies there.”
Condolences have been pouring in from industry peers and admirers of her work on social media.
