Kgomotso Matsunyanye and Skhumba Hlophe Nominated for the DSTV Mzansi Viewer Choice Awards

The DSTV and Mzansi Magic Viewers Choice Awards are back again to acknowledge and honour some of the most talented personalities who exude excellence and innovation in the entertainment industry, across eleven categories. This year two of Kaya FM’s presenters – Kgomotso Matsunyane and Skhumba Hlope – have made it onto the prestigious list of nominations.
As a first time nominee in the Favourite Radio Personality category, Kgomotso is a seasoned broadcaster who has hosted several seminal shows on radio and television in South Africa and is an accomplished documentary director and producer. With a very diverse professional career Kgomotso is also the former editor of Oprah Magazine (South Africa) and has worked as the first Channel Director at BET Africa. She is the co-host of UNCAPTURED, Kaya FM’s award-winning afternoon drive show. “I’m in good company in this category, so it feels good to be nominated with other radio heavy weights who have such huge followings on national platforms, “ expressed Matsunyane on her.

Skhumba Hlope makes his return to the Favourite Comedian category, an award which he won previously. As one of South Africa’s most discerning comedians, Afropolitans will now the multiple-award-winning comedian as the co-host of Kaya FM’s Good Friday. On the small screen, he has grown his audience with his comedic reality show Trippin with Skhumba. Last year his live stand-up show,#IMEANBIZNISS, sold out and his critically acclaimed Big Banger comedy commences in February.
“ This is my third time being nominated for this award and having won it before, it makes me feel good that people see my work. Everyone in this category is a close friend of mine, so I will be happy regardless of who takes the award home,” he expressed.
The awards ceremony will broadcast live on Saturday 14 March 2020 from the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg.
