Kaya FM’s Sound Supreme adds Louie Vega
In 2017 Kaya FM MD, Greg Maloka, announced the changes in the Kaya FM line up which introduced a music show with a twist, called “Sound Supreme”. A year down the line and Sound Supreme has become an institution.
In the first year, every Saturday afternoon, the listener was treated to rare selections from music aficionados: DJ Kenzhero, Tha Muzik, Just Themba and The Rhythm Sessions for four hours on Kaya FM 95.9. The Sound Supreme team has spent years travelling the world, exploring the African continent and immediate surroundings to enhance their music curatorial experience. Their experience has endeared the show to many discerning music lovers.
On 21 September 2018 at Artivist in Braamfontein, Sound Supreme will relaunch. With the relaunch comes the introduction of the the Grammy award winner and legendary global producerLouie Vega to expand on the already well-received Sound Supreme formula of good music.
Look out for the soon to be announced new time channel for The Rhythm Sessions.
The esteemed line-up is made up of Tha_Muzik, Kenzhero, Just Themba and Louie Vega.
2 – 3 PM on Sound Supreme
The first hour of Sound Supreme belongs to DJ Kenzhero, a man who needs no introduction. In fact, he’s something of a savant to those who love live music mixes but who longer have the patience for an evening at the club just to hear that perfect sequence of tracks. DJ Kenzhero is a legend of Johannesburg nightlife.
3 – 4 PM on Sound Supreme
Tha Muzik has various interests, which include music eventing and live experiences. Musically, his style leans towards the jazzy sounds. He’s also come to be known by the Sound Supreme audience as the guy that will have some Latin fusion in his set, which makes for an always-refreshing set.
4 – 5 PM on Sound Supreme
If the streets (the #KayaSoundSupreme hashtag on Twitter to be exact) are to be believed, the thing Just Themba does well in his mixes is folding in a surprise. But because his touch is so delicate and his ear so astute, the surprising music moment during Just Themba’s hour on Sound Supreme is always followed with “of course.”
5 – 6 PM on Sound Supreme
The legendary producer and a leader in global dance music Louie Vega wraps up the authentic Saturday mix show. He is set to bring his multi-layered and diverse sound. Louie Vega has painted a multi award-winning career from a palette mixed with everything from house, salsa and afro-beat, to jazz. Vega’s global fandom requires the famed producer extraordinaire to be in many places at once – Afropolitans will enjoy his sounds on Saturdays.
Tune in to Sound Supreme every Saturday from 2pm – 6pm on Kaya FM.
