Rapelang Rabana is a computer scientist, entrepreneur, and keynote speaker. She is the founder of Rekindle Learning, a learning technology company, and previously co-founded Yeigo Communications, South Africa’s first free VoIP mobile services provider.
Rapelang was born in Gaborone, Botswana. She started her schooling in Gaborone before moving to Johannesburg and attended Roedean School. Rapelang graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2005 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Science with a specialty in Computer Science.
In 2012, she was on Oprah Magazine’s O Power List. In 2013, she was listed on Forbes’s 30 under 30 list for best entrepreneurs of Africa. In 2014, Rapelang was named one of the Entrepreneurs of the World by the World Entrepreneurship Forum.
Tafadzwa Madavo is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Riversands Incubation Hub – a large scale business incubator facilitating access to a rich range of entrepreneur development and business support services that committed, talented, entrepreneurs can harness to start and grow their businesses. Madavo describes himself as, “An Enterprise Development Practitioner who is passionate about Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise (SMME) development and enhancing economic participation.”
Those who know Taf as he’s affectionately known will tell you he’s someone who wants to get things done and that’s exactly what he strives to do when it comes to assisting entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses. Prior to being appointed COO, he managed the business incubator’s strategic partnerships with the objective of identifying, developing and delivering effective support structures for all businesses that fall under the Riversands umbrella.
Madavo holds a Masters in Science (Strategic Management) and a Bachelor of Social Science and has years of experience working in banking, finance and with international NGOs. He is no stranger to entrepreneurship and has had successful and not so successful businesses to his name – making him the best person to speak to when it comes to a holistic view of the changing landscape of business as well as South Africa’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
