Rosettenville calm after fresh protests over the weekend.
Police specialised units are in Rossetenville South of Johannesburg to monitor the area after fresh violence erupted there this weekend.
Residents took matters into their own hands after various attempts to get help from authorities in dealing with drugs and brothels in the area failed. Residents there have over the past few years marched over drug dens and brothels.
Mayor Herman Mashaba set up a task team to deal with the issue after the first set of properties were torched last week.
Mashaba committed resources to assist with the closing down of drug dens in the city. The mayor even missed the State of the nation address to attend to the community of Rosettenville.
Police say the nine people arrested in the protests will appear in court in the next 48 hours, while 15 properties have been damaged in the protests since last week. They have also called anyone with information to contact them.
This is what Mayoral spokesperson Tony Taverna-Turisan told Kaya FM news last week.
