Eskom problems are self inflicted, SACP’s Solly Mapaila

By Breakfast with David Team

The South African Communist Party says while the majority of issues that are facing power utility Eskom were self-inflicted, the power utility cannot be allowed to fail.

The SACP’s second Deputy General Secretary Solly Mapaila was in conversation with David O’Sullivan this morning on Breakfast With David.

Mapaila says Eskom created the problems it is facing through poor management and state capture. The issues affecting the power utility have resulted in load shedding, which has left many South Africans frustrated.

Last week, President Ramaphosa announced that the power utility will be split into three separate entities namely: Generation, transmission and distribution.

Mapaila says the proposed unbundling of the utility needs to happen in such a way that it does not result in job losses.
