Durban-born Dr Sathasivian “Saths” Cooper is prominently known for being one of the founding members, of the black consciousness movement, and being the former Vice-chancellor of the University of Durban-Westville. Saths has also played a critical role internationally and locally as a clinical psychologist.
This episode of Reflecting on 25 Years of Democracy focusses on black consciousness as a school of thought in South Africa today. Saths speaks about how black consciousness enabled him and others to find their purpose, of achieving democracy in this lifetime.
