Dan Tshanda has been remembered as the pioneer of bubblegum music in Africa. Bassline was abuzz with artists in attendance at the memorial service including Ebony Ngcobo and legendary artists Condry Ziqubu who gave a tribute performance to Tshanda.

Ebony Ngcobo, a music legend in her own right, said the music industry has suffered a huge loss over the passing of Dan Tshanda.

“We have lost a legend whose music shall live on, he was able to unite the continent and we shall forever be grateful,” said Ngcobo.

Fans have also described their old with many at the memorial service lamenting the passing of an artist whose music they grew up listening.

Dan Tshanda’s friend, Zubenathi Dyosi, shared that he is struggling to come to terms with the passing of his friend.

“We have lost a pillar and a visionary who was always supportive,” said Dyosi.

The veteran artist’s death came as a surprise to his family after a holiday in Durban with his loved ones just days before his sudden death. Family spokesperson Moudy Mudzielwana says the family is taking the artist’s passing one day at a time. Mudzielwana also said plans to lay the artist to rest are at an advanced stage.

Dan Tshanda leaves behind his wife and three kids. The veteran musician will be laid to rest at the Westpark Cemetery, with the service to be held at a venue still to be confirmed.
