Best T Brave Winter 2019 kicks off

Best T Brave Winter 2019 kicks off

For the past, several years Kaya Cares has brought the Brave Winter campaign to several schools in the Gauteng province —helping thousands of young people to prepare for the coldest months of the year, while taking precautionary measures against some of the hazards they may encounter during this time. In previous years Kaya Cares has visited schools in Diepsloot, Thembisa and Zandspruit, and this year we are headed to Etwatwa in Daveyton with Thabo “Tbose” Mokwele leading the movement — hence it now being known as the Best T Brave Winter.

‘I am excited to be involved in the Best T Brave Winter campaign this year. I am a true believer in re-invigorating the idea that it takes a village to raise a child, and I’m hoping that through this campaign we can bring that notion back into building our communities,” said Mokwele.

The Best T Brave Winter campaign is only possible with the support of our partners; Coca Cola who are providing learners with water, cold drinks as well as warm apparel. Meals on Wheels who will be feeding the learners while educating them on the importance of nutritional eating during winter. Akunamlilo Fire Fighters will give fire extinguishers, pre-caution posters and relevant training in each school. Ster-Kinekor Vision Mission in partnership with Opti Eyewear will be giving the learners eye tests and glasses. Discovery will be conducting ear tests and will provide hearing aids to those in need.

Speaking on the involvement of her organization, Geraldine Engelman, Head of Transformation and Wellness at Ster-Kinekor expressed, “With Ster-Kinekor Vision Mission’s continued affiliation with Kaya FM, the Best T Brave Winter campaign is a reminder to everyone that children are the most important treasures in our country and keeping them informed on the possible dangers that they may encounter, not only during winter but all year round, is the main priority. This initiative involves creating awareness around fires, road safety as well as electrical dangers that people could face if their eyes are not properly taken care of.”

–          Barcelona Primary School– 31 May 2019
