Katchie is always looking for her next adventure and with every adventure, comes great responsibility.
Katchie is a South African travel content creator also known as @TheSoloWandera on social media. Her travels have focused on intra-African travel, decolonising African travel culture with an aim to inspiring more Africans to travel and explore the African continent.
#BreakingBorders is a project that will see Katchie traveling from the most Northern point of Africa, Ras ben Sakka (Tunisia) to the most Southern point of Africa, Cape Point, South Africa. The purpose of the project is:
- To educate Africans about the African continent.
- Document African travel, cultures and heritage from an African perspective
- Create content and travel information for what is regarded as a challenging part of Africa to travel.
- Visit World Heritage sites.
- Document struggles of an African wanting to travel Africa.
The African continent is made up of 54 countries of which 7 are independent islands. There are over a Billion people living in Africa, an estimated 2000 languages spoken, and diverse religious systems.
Isn’t it time we Africans share the African continent and our people and document our experiences?
The people of Africa are thought to be ignorant about Africa. For people to not be ignorant, information about Africa needs to be readily available for them to consume – it is currently not.
Beyond educating Africans about Africa, #BreakingBorders is a project that will document the African joys of travelling Africa. This project will develop a route and find ways to make travel to West and Central Africa as attractive and convenient as travel to East and Southern Africa.
#BreakingBorders is about educating Africans on Africa. Sharing our similarities and celebrating our differences while squashing any misconceptions that people have about Africans and our beautiful continent. This campaign aims to unite Africans.
Tune into T-bose on The Best T in the City every Thursday to share in Katchie’s amazing adventure. You can also follow us on social media for updates.
