Water restrictions in Gauteng
Big metro’s and municipalities in Gauteng- have been ordered to impose water restrictions.
The Water Affairs department says this is due to a shortage in the Vaal River system.
The department says the Vaal Dam is about 34-percent full.
The new limitations expected to see urban supply reduced by 15 percent and irrigation water by 20 percent.
Department’s spokesperson Sputnik Ratau – says these will be imposed in Free State and Mpumalanga.
“The department, SALGA , the affected municipalities, the three metros in Gauteng as well as Mogale City will be looking at how these restrictions can be utilised to reduce the amount of consumption” he said.
