US Pastor Stevens banned from entering SA
Home Affairs minister Malusi Gigaba has announced that US Pastor Steven Anderson has been denied entry into the country. Gigaba says this is on the basis of hate speech. Anderson made repeated anti-gay comments on social media and other platforms and is accused of being a homophobe. He intended to come to the country for what he called a spiritual crusade and was set to arrive next week.
A petition of over 60,000 signatures was sent to Gigaba’s office calling for Anderson to be denied entry into the country. Anderson has slammed some local religious leaders for supporting homosexuality. Briefing the media in Cape Town, Gigaba also announced that they will detain and deport Pastor Steven Anderson if he tries to reach the country’s port of entry.
Anderson has since taken to social media to react to the decision to ban him from entering South Africa. Anderson says he feels sorry for the people who live in South Africa as it is a country without any religious freedom.
