KAYA FM NEWS INVESTIGATES: Would be students scammed of thousands
Can you imagine what it is like to desperately want something so much that you are willing to part with money that you don’t have to get it? Imagine being given the hope that you may attain your goal only to have your hopes dashed.
Well, that is the story of three young ladies who had hoped to further their studies at the University of Johannesburg this year. They were unfortunately, allegedly, scammed out of money by a one Njabulo Mbhele. Mbhele a former SRC member at the institution apparently charges from between two and five thousand rand to get you registered into courses at the institution. Students, who are only alerted to the fact that they are not registered when they check in with the University, also received a bogus proof of registration as well as student number.
When KayaNews reporter Nomsa Zwane asked Mbhele about these allegations , he denied them saying he is just a middleman who connects these would be students to someone who can help them, all this for a thank you drink.
What these students are simply wanting now is their money back. They want police and UJ to intervene.
Below is the post from Facebook that sparked this investigation:
Here is part of one of the whatsapp conversations between Mbhele and one of the would be students:
