The comedian, who joined the Emmy award-winning satirical news show, The Daily Show, in December last year as a contributor, is expected to keep many entertained. September 29 has unofficially been declared “Trevor Noah Day” as the South African comedian will make his first appearance exclusive to Comedy Central DSTV channel 122.
Noah, 31, is taking over from Jon Stewart who resigned earlier this year. In a press statement released by the network when the announcement was made, Stewart said: “I’m thrilled for the show and for Trevor. He’s a tremendous comic and talent that we’ve loved working with … In fact, I may rejoin as a correspondent just to be a part of it!!!”
Since then, #TrevorNoah tweets have been taking over Twitter timelines across the globe. Many Twitter users have wished the comedian good luck.
Last week Noah and his team had a one-on-one session with some of the journalists from different parts of the world. eNCA’s Yusuf Omar was there representing South Africa. Here are some of the tweets from the briefing.
As the media briefing was underway, billboards and posters with Noah’s face were spotted on the streets of New York.
Ahead of the show, Comedy Central did short inserts to promote the show.
While the world awaits Noah’s first appearance, Comedy Central has revealed Noah’s first guests for the week.
