TAC Against World AIDS Day Celebrations
Most of the country’s provinces are still experiencing antiretroviral therapy shortages.
The Treatment Action Campaign says in Gauteng alone there are about 71 thousand HIV positive people but they are not reflecting on the ART programme.
Spokesperson Mary-Jane Matsolo says the fact that community health care workers are not integrated into the public healthcare system creates an even wider gap in responding to HIV/AIDS.
Matsolo was speaking to KayaNews during a protest against the #worldaidsday celebrations outside the Sinaba stadium in Daveyton where Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and health minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi were giving official world AIDS day addresses.
The aim of the protest is to hand over a memorandum of grievances to both the deputy president and the Health minister.
The TAC staged a similar march during the AIDS 2016 conference in Durban in July.
