Student Sponsorship Programme calls for young leaders to apply for SSP high school scholarship
- 5 year high school scholarships will be awarded to successful candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds/low income families to attend the country’s top schools
11 April 2016 – Student Sponsorship Programme is offering academically excellent Grade 6 pupils the opportunity of a life time. Successful candidates will be awarded the prestigious 5 year high school scholarships to graduate from one of South Africa’s best schools in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Grahamstown, East London, Somerset, KwaZulu Natal Midlands and Somerset West areas.
SSP’s vision aligns itself with the South African Constitution of a non-racist, non-sexist, democratic, united and prosperous South Africa by developing leaders who will live these values wherever they find themselves. Over 850 scholars have directly benefited from this programme since its inception in year 2000 with over 550 Alumni. SSP is now calling for applications from pupils who meet the criteria to submit their applications for an opportunity to change the landscapes of their world through quality education.
In order to be considered, the applicants must adhere to the criteria below:
- Must be in Grade 6
- Not older than 12 years of age at the time of application
- Overall average of 70% or more in Grade 5 and Grade 6
- 70% minimum grade for Mathematics, English and Science
- They must demonstrate a financial need
- Have leadership potential
- Be community service orientated
SSP provides holistic support to their scholars and parents thereby enabling them to impact the community at large. SSP scholars have shown that they do not only excel academically but they become leaders in their schools, in their communities and at tertiary level.
