Stjwetla residents along the Jukskei to be moved
Johannesburg Emergency services have continued searching for the missing three-year-old girl who was swept away by flash floods in Alexandra last week. President Jacob Zuma, Corporative Governance Minister Des Van Rooyen as well as Gauteng Premier David Makhura were in Alexandra this afternoon to assess how they could help the community of Stjwetla.
Homes there were damaged in heavy rains that hit Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni last week. The president told residents that they will be moved to a safer area.
This is how social media reacted to the president’s visit in Alexandra township.
#flashfloods have been a problem for many years. This should have been dealt with long ago. Now for the empty promises from the government
