Pistorius appears in court on murdered girlfriend’s birthday
Renowned paralympian Oscar Pistorius is in court today.
The Pretoria magistrate’s court is packed to the rafters as international and local media want to hear first-hand how Pistorious’s matter will unfold.
The blade runner is facing a murder charge.
Ironically while Oscar stands in the dock, friends and family of Reeva Steenkamp will be remembering her on the models birthday.
Since news broke of the tragic Valentine’s Day shooting, the story has attracted the world’s attention and seen several revelations of the events surrounding the highly publicised case.
In pre-trial testimony, Pistorius’ lawyers told a magistrates’ court the shooting had been a tragic mistake and the athlete was acting in self-defense against what he thought was an intruder.
He was released on bail in February after being charged with murder.
Police said they had used forensic experts, ballistics experts, psychologists and technology experts to investigate the death.
It is expected that he will be served with an indictment and that the matter will be postponed.
