Male entrepreneur launches a monthly forum to empower women
At a time where South Africa is witnessing a scourge of abuse cases and gruesome killings against women, one male entrepreneur, Katlego Tshetlo has taken a stand by saying, “Not in my name”!
Tshetlo is the founder of SheBoss Conversations, a monthly forum that celebrates seasoned women business leaders, places them in the spotlight and allows for corporate women and female entrepreneurs to draw from their well of wisdom. Not only is SheBoss Conversations an unrivalled networking opportunity for like-minded women, but also facilitates an opportunity for guests to connect with the seasoned business leaders and engage them in Q&A on topical issues faced by the corporate woman and the female entrepreneur.
The forum was launched on Thursday, 25th May 2017 in partnership with McDonald’s South Africa where their Chief Operations and Supply Chain Officer, Jo-Ann De Wet was sharing with guests, key considerations to achieve corporate success. Also speaking at the event was Portia Nondo, a former corporate banking professional now turned franchisee with 5 McDonald’s restaurants under her leadership. Pettula Pienaar, Franchise Manager at McDonald’s SA also spoke on the importance of being intrapreneurial to drive innovation within companies.
When asked why he founded SheBoss Conversations, Tshetlo responded “we’ve been producing a variety of experiences in the form of conferences, exhibitions, seminars and year-end functions for our corporate clients as katELog, a boutique events business I started in July 2015, however, I wanted to establish something that is socially relevant and impactful. That’s when SheBoss Conversations was conceived early this year.”
In June and July 2017, SheBoss Conversations will host Ntsiki Biyela (the first black woman winemaker in South Africa who’s recently launched her new wine brand, Aslina) and Dr Judy Dlamini (founder and executive chairman of the Mbekani Group) respectively.
