Lions Hunt History
This weekend the lions have a date with destiny as they play in their first Super Rugby Final as a stand-alone franchise. The men from Johannesburg take on the Hurricanes in Wellington. The Golden Lions who were once considered the whipping boys of the competition could go on to make history by becoming only the second side in South Africa to win the Super Rugby – The Bulls have won it three times. While many fans in Johannesburg and South Africa as a whole will be cheering on the men in red and white, coach Johan Ackerman says even if they don’t go all the way it will not be the end of the world because he is already proud of his boys.
It will be a tough task for the Lions. The Hurricanes are the only New Zealand outfit never to have won a Super Rugby tournament and will be eager to break that duck. They hosted a final last year but lost it to the Highlanders and it will be interesting to see if they can finally mange to change their misfortunes this time around. The lads from Wellington go into tomorrow’s game as the favourites but for the superstitious, they will tell you that the Hurricanes have never won a final, and the Lions have never lost one, so we wait to see who will come out on top tomorrow after the final whistle. One thing’s for sure South African fans believe that there will only be one winner tomorrow.

Well played Lions, they dished up some soft tries, but scored some incredible ones. 42-30 they win, and now off to Wellington for final.
