Kaya FM and Jacobs Celebrates Mandela Day at Constitution Hill
In anticipation of Nelson Mandela International Day 2012, Jacobs Krönung and Kaya FM paid tribute to Madiba on Saturday the 14th of July at Constitution Hill in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. To celebrate our hero, the coffee brand with a soul, built an impressive 5000-cup ‘Madela mosaic’ out of Jacobs coffee.
In response to the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s call for people to contribute 67 minutes, Jacobs and friends of Jacobs gathered to dedicate a soulful 67 minutes to teaching underprivileged children from the Active Learning Libraries (ALL-SA) to play board games. Jacobs called on the public to donate new and used board games, puzzles and books to help build the ALL-SA library’s collection. hundreds of games were collected leading up to the event and on the day.
Heleen Johnson, Director of the ALL_SA organisation said the gratitude felt was hard to put into words. “Thank you so much for a lovely day on Saturday. The staff were blown away by your generosity. We will sort the toys and send them off to under-resourced Toy Libraries in South Africa. In particular we also really appreciate the time that was spent playing with the children, spending quality time with an adult builds resilience in a child!” said Johnson.
