Herman Mashaba says the City of Jo’burg need work
Seventeen days as the city of Joburg ‘s mayor, Herman Mashaba insists that a skills audit will help to create a professional civil service.
Mashaba says he has met various heads of department and together they unpacked continuing and upcoming projects in the city.
Speaking to John Perlman yesterday the mayor said he together with his executive team are working come up with a plan that would not only have the right people doing the job but to create a conducive environment to increase employment in the city.
Mashaba says for his administration to reach its goals, the city’s economy needs to grow at 5%.
The mayor said Jo’burg cannot be called a “World class Africa City ” when people are still living in squalor condition some without electricity and water and many still unemployed.
The new mayor fell short of saying , Parks Tau’s administration did not do much to uplift the lives of people living in the city.
Mashaba committed to doing the best with the current budget and to carry on with projects that will benefit the people of Joburg.
The next budget in April is expected to be more geared at taking the city forward.
