HELP SEND AMU MOKONE TO WIMBLEDON
We first met Amukelani Mokone in 2015. She was a promising 12 year old tennis player based at Tennis South Africa’s development programme at the Arthur Ashes Tennis Centre in Soweto. Coached by Oupa Nthuping, Amu and her partner Mbali Langa were showing real promise in age group, with a few doubles tournament victories to their names. Sadly, for both Amu and Mbali were struggling with the costs of equipment and tournament entry fees and the considerable costs of travelling to tournaments around Gauteng and South Africa. That’s where the force behind The Lion King Lebo M got involved to save the day.
That donation made a real difference and allowed Amu to continue competing and improving. Fast forward to 2017 where Amu has now been selected to represent South Africa in the SA Schools U15 Team that will tour the UK in June. Again, the R46 715 including a R20 000 non-refundable deposit, could prevent Amu from realising her dream. Amu lives with her granny Mhani Tskani Hlungwane and they simply can’t afford the cost. Silver Sibiya covered the story in the City Press on Sunday the 9th of April.
So Kaya FM decided to get involved as Afropolitans called in to 180 with Bob on Monday the 10th of April to make their contributions.
