He dedicates an entire hour to your birthday and anniversary requests and occasionally a very special dedication. On Wednesdays and Fridays he takes you on a trip down memory lane as he searches for cover versions that you probably thought were originals. Then there’s the lyrical challenge where your lyrical recollection and music knowledge is tested. “Georgie in the Afternoon” will make you feel like work is a hobby.

Listener birthday, anniversary and ultra special dedications are sent between 12h00 and 13h00 Monday to Friday. On occasion Georgie has been known to spontaneously surprise listeners with a live phone call or two.

You can send your requests and dedications to Georgie between 12 and 1pm by phoning 083 9000 959, sms-ing him on 33959 (please type in the keyword "REQ" followed by your request/dedication) or you can send a mail to request@kayafm.co.za.

13:10:00: Something Stolen or Something Borrowed
A few months ago Georgie’s teenage daughter asked him if he had heard a new song called “Family Affair” by John Legend. Well, Georgie had to sit down and explain that it was a common mistake due to her young age and it was not a new song but a cover version of a classic 70’s song by Sly and the Family Stone. He the played her the original. What a dad!

And so “Something Stolen or Something Borrowed” was born! Every Wednesday & Friday Georgie plays the new (usually sampled) version and then enlightens us with the classic original. Education for the nation!

Every Week Georgie chooses a newly released CD and every day (Mon – Fri) plays a selected track. A good service to the CD buying & listening public as Georgie can assist you in making a decision about buying a new or ignoring a new release.
