Bones Confirmed to be Those of Palesa Madiba
It’s official, the results of the DNA tests done on remains found at Phiri Soweto are those of UJ student Palesa Madiba.
These results of course come after police were tipped off by a member of the community to go and dig up a shallow grave at Madiba’s friend’s home, Tshidi Mkwanazi.
I have always maintained that Palesa’s body never left Tshidi’s home, what is puzzling is why this did not come out sooner and whether police initially really took this case seriously from the get go. I remember the Madiba family being barred from entering the Mkwanazi home via a court interdict.
I have always wanted police to make a breakthrough in the case but to be honest I was never ready for the news I received last night and as a result I wonder how her mother must be feeling. As police broke the news to the family today I could feel the pain in her mother’s tears.
When the investigating officer told the family that the samples taken from the remains found in Phiri, match Palesa’s mother’s blood, my heart sank. While it brings closure for the family, it does not take way the pain.
For me, police will now have to do Palesa justice, with a new investigating officer on the case in top cop Amos Manetha.
I know I’m not a police officer but for me, I would like to know, what Dumisani Mkwanazi’s version of events are. He is the – malome – who reportedly last saw Palesa alive.
I believe that the people of No 888A Phiri Soweto have changed their statements. I now hear that even our friend Tshidi has changed her statement, saying there may have been other people at her home other than her uncle when she left Palesa.
- Please allow me to ask Mama Thandi, the uncle’s mother, what do you have to say – as a mother, now that human remains were exhumed from your yard?
- Now that those remains are confirmed to be Palesa’s?
- How do you feel, that you stopped Palesa’s family from searching your house initially, and now this?
- Will you buy this docket too, like people say you usually do?
- Are you and your family going to apologise to the Madibas?
As for Tshidi, I hope you will now tell the truth, free yourself from the lies.
And while you are at it please ask your uncle to do the same.
For now, though we put our faith back in the hands of the men in blue.
Hope you can now rest in peace #PalesaMadiba .
