8 November 2017 LATEST NEWS

Twenty three patients died in 6 months at Precious Angels, an NGO sourced by the Gauteng health department to care for psychiatric patients from Life Esidimeni.

This was revealed in testimonies taking place as part of an arbitration process between the state and relatives of psychiatric patients who died when they were moved from Life Esidimeni to unlicensed NGO’S across Gauteng.

The arbitration process chaired by retired Judge Dikgang Moseneke was set up to probe the deaths of the mentally ill patients who died under the care of NGO’s which were sourced by the health department who were hoping to save money by transferring patients from the private hospital.
