ANCYL pulls the plug on #OccupyLuthuliHouse presser
Members from the African National Congress’ Youth league (ANCYL) brought a press briefing to complete halt when it stormed the Occupy Luthuli House presser earlier today.
Attendees took to twitter describing how the ANCYL Tshwane branch members were unplugging microphones and essentially pulling the plug on the planned address. Police were called in and began negotiations with the movement organisers and the ANCYL members.
Tshwane branch chairman, Lesego Makhubela said the briefing was hosted by impersonators flying the flag of the ANC, he added that they were planning to open a case of impersonation.

“There is no anarchy, we don’t believe in calling for order in disorder.
“But when someone hoists our flag, sing our slogans, hoists our regalia, speaks our language and speaks as if they are representing views of ANC members, that’s where we have a problem and we stand up for that,” he said.

One of the movement’s members, Bonolo Ramokhele said ,however, that the campaign was organised by ordinary members, and not by any specific structure or faction.
The #OccupyLuthuliHouse Movement will seek to occupy the ruling party’s headquarters, a move Makhubela has described as a çoup de tat. Among the demands listed in memo due to be delivered on Monday, is a call for the ANC’s national executive committee’s resignations and/ or an early elective conference. The organisers of the occupation say in a statement they will not let the current of leaders take the party to the conference. The movement is comprised of student movements, ANC activists and a number of unnamed organisations cited in recent reports.
The campaign comes just as the ANC NEC is due to visit Limpopo, North West and the Free State this weekend to take stock of the party’s drastic reduction in support following August, 3.
Build up to the ANC elective conference. Dogs are eating each other, the smart ones will distance themselves from Zuma #OccupyLuthuliHouse
